Join Anne and I on May 21, 2017 and discover that there is a little bit of Texas in PA. Wikipedia, with a link to ”the origins of unusual place names”, reported that East Texas was named during the Mexican war (1846-1948) after the state of Texas. The accepted version of the name claims that laborers clearing a right-of-way for a railroad in the Lehigh Valley congregated in a tavern after work where brawls were frequent. After one brawl someone said that this is just like Texas. The name stuck.
This is a nice run through the mountains, forests and valleys that surround the Lehigh valley. We will even pass a ranch with Texas long horn cattle. The run will end with lunch at the Texas Road House.
The views are great! Join us; I think you’ll love it! Cowboy hats and boots are optional.
