Harriman Park Run
It has been a bit since we took this trip in my neighborhood but originally run by Chris Babarito. The Harriman park is an enormous wild area that offers all kinds of outdoor activities and some wonderful roads. The trip to and from the park, located just north of Sloatsburg, NY, runs through the northern part of Passaic county and its watersheds and park areas.
We will head north from the Oakland Dunkin, about 1/2 mile off I-287 into the Wanaque and Monksville Reservoir watershed before entering NY and the park. Exiting the park we will pause for a break in Monroe NY before making our way south to travel along Greenwood Lake into NJ. Our last stop will be a very popular drive in called Paul's Place that has existed in this area for many decades and is a frequent destination for Anne and I. While not large they offer some great hotdogs, hamburgers and other lunch items we can enjoy on the tables outdoors. This is a CASH ONLY place so bring your folding money or use the ATM in by the counter. There is a DQ around the corner for those wanting to round out their lunch.
Registration open April 10.
As usual we will gather at 9:30 and depart at 10:00. For questions contact Curt at csprings52@gmail.com.
We will offer 2 registration options:
Follow the leader – run with the large group
Follow the directions – a link to the Tourstart GPS app and a GPX file to load in to your Garmin or TomTom GPS. Form small groups or run by yourself. These drivers will leave 15 min before the large group.
