Posting on behalf of a friend, she has an NA in very nice shape, not a member but has been on club events.
Her usual mechanic gave her a list of things she needs to do in his humble opinion, and that includes immediately replacing the control arms since hers are "rotted" for like $700. I guess he means "rusted to the point of being hazardous".
I have not looked at it myself yet, but I would like to ask, is this a thing? Do control arms "rot"? Can they rust to the point of being hazardous? What could happen? Obviously anything that compromises steering and the possibility of sudden failure must be taken seriously.
Or does the guy have $$ in his eyes and is milking the situation?
Any thoughts would be appreciated
